Valheim is a game in the survival crafting genre and in this game, you’ll need to keep upgrading your weapons and armor to survive.
You’ll find more resources as you explore new biomes and they will help unlock new items.
These includes forge improvement items. Assuming you used a forge cooler and an anvil to upgrade it to level 3, here’s how you can upgrade your forge to levels 4, 5 and 6 in Valheim.
Build a grinding wheel
One of the items you need is a grinding wheel.
To unlock the recipe to craft a grinding wheel, you need to first make a stonecutter.
A stonecutter is unlocked when you first smelt iron with a smelter. You can find iron from crypts in swamp biomes.
After building a stonecutter, you need to make a sharpening stone using five regular stones.
Once you have that material, you can build a grinding wheel with 25 wood, a nearby workbench and 1 sharpening stone. Place the wheel near the forge to level it to level 4.
Build a smith’s anvil
Another item is the smith’s anvil. You need 20 iron, 5 wood and a nearby workbench to build it. Place it near the forge to get it to level 5.
Build a forge toolrack
Lastly, you need to build a forge toolrack. You need 15 iron, 10 wood and a nearby workbench.
You should now have a level 6 forge.
