Phasmophobia is a paranormal investigation game where your job is to investigate haunted buildings.
You will need to look for evidence using various tools to determine the type of ghost and complete a few optional objectives.
Luckily, you’ll be able to play in a group of up to four players and you can do so with friends.
This game is so much more fun when played with others. Here’s how you can play Phasmophobia with friends or with strangers.
How to play Phasmophobia with friends
To play Phasmophobia with your friends, it’s best if you create a private room.
When you click on “Play”, you will see the server lobby. Choose “Create Private”.
Inside the private room, you will see the “Invite Code’ at the top right corner of the screen. It is six digits.
Let your friend know the code and they can key in the code when they click “Join Private”. They will then be able to join your room.
Also, make sure that all of you chose the same server (e.g. AS, US, etc.) or it won’t work.
Best in-game mic option
When playing with friends, you should use an external voice chat program to ensure smooth communication.
Discord seems to be the preferred option. Just create a room or group in Discord, and join the voice chat.
Inside the game, you can just communicate via Discord. The in-game push-to-talk mechanism is not necessary unless you’re using the Spirit Box. Sometimes the ghost responds through the Spirit Box even without using in-game chat.
You can also use Steam’s voice chat to play the game, but it’s not as stable as Discord, based on experience.
How to play this game with strangers
To play with strangers, it’s very direct. Choose the server you want to play in (e.g. AS, US, EU, etc.).
You will see a list of rooms available. You can join any of the rooms but you may get kicked out if the host doesn’t want you in the group.
Finding a good group via the public server is harder. Playing with friends is still the better option.
Another way to find people to play with is by joining Phasmophobia’s official Discord group. There are a lot of players looking for groups there.
