The shotgun rail is one of the attachments you can place on your shotgun in Sons of the Forest.
It will come in handy after you’ve found the shotgun at a later part of the game.

How to find the shotgun rail (location)
If you look at your GPS, you will see a cave at the beach on one of the edges of the map. If not mistaken, it’s at the northern part of the full map.
You can refer to the GPS shown below. The actual shotgun rail is not at the cave symbol but on the other end of the beach.
You will see a campsite with a few tents and deflated boats.
The shotgun rail is in the hand of a dead guy.
