The modern axe is one of the best axes you can get in Sons of the Forest.
It’s a lot better than the tactical axe that you get by default when it comes to chopping down trees or fighting mutants.

How to find the modern axe (location)
The exact location of the modern axe is shown in the map below, marked by the red X.
It’s very near one of the purple markers that you get in the beginning of the game, where you find a soldier hanging from a rope (flashlight location).
When you get to the marked spot as shown in the map above, you’ll come across a camp site.
The modern axe is in a tent beside a dead person.
