Groundpounder is a side mission available in the system of Altair in Starfield.
Your objective is to answer the distress call and defeat the Spacers.
Here’s a walkthrough and guide of Groundpounder in Starfield.
Land at Research Outpost U3-09 on Altair II
You should get the mission if you’ve jumped into the Altair system before.
Then, land on Altair II. Head towards Research Outpost U3-09.
Find Private Mahoney
The one that sent the distress call is Private Mahoney.
After landing, you’ll come across hostile Spacers. Take them down first.
Once the area is secure, enter the research facility.
There’ll be plenty of items to loot on every level.
Head towards the only door that can be opened.
Take down all the Spacers along the way.
You’ll eventually reach a Storage room.
Enter the Storage and you’ll meet Private Mahoney.
Clear the Spacers outside the Infirmary and talk to Lezama
Private Mahoney will ask for your help to find Lezama. Continue to the marked location and clear the Spacers.
Go through the server room.
More Spacers await. Take them down.
You’ll eventually reach the door to Corporal Lezama.
Open the door and talk to Lezama.
Find and rescue Lieutenant Torres
Lezama will give a key card to you.
Now, head towards Lieutenant Torres who is upstairs.
To go up, you need to find the specific door that can be unlocked with the U3-09 Facility Keycard.
It’s not far from Lezama’s location. Go upstairs.
Defeat the Spacers waiting there.
Finally, open the door and you’ll meet Lieutenant Torres.
Talk to Torres
Speak with Lieutenant Torres who is part of the Freestar. He’ll then ask for your help to save Myeong.
Rescue Captain Myeong
After getting another access card, head to the office and unlock the door.
Inside, you’ll meet Captain Myeong.
Enemies will then come in a group. Defeat all of the Spacers first.
Talk to Captain Myeong
After securing the area, talk to Captain Myeong.
Take your ship to the Research Camp on Altair II
Captain Myeong will then ask for your help to clear the Spacers at the Research Camp.
Leave the building through the exit.
Go to your map and look for the Research Camp and land there.
Eliminate the Spacers at the Research Camp
After landing your ship, head towards the Research Camp.
You’ll find five or more Spacers at the place. Eliminate them all.
Talk with survivors
Secure the area and then enter the small camp.
Talk to the survivors.
Speak with Lieutenant Torres
Go back to the research facility earlier and talk to Lieutenant Torres.
Defeat Spacers in Altair I and Altair V
They will then ask for your help to defeat Spacers in the orbits of Altair I and Altair V.
You’ll have to go to each orbit to defeat a few ships.
Each area should have around three ships to destroy.
Defeat the Spacer invasion
After clearing the enemies in both Altair I and Altair V, come back to Altair II’s research facility.
You’ll find out that the Spacers have invaded. Go towards the base and defeat all of the Spacers.
After the first wave of enemies, two more ships will land nearby. Clear all of the enemies that come out from those ships.
Return to Lieutenant Torres
Once it’s done, return to Lieutenant Torres to complete the mission.
You’ll earn 5,000 credits, 11mm bullets and a Peacekeeper.
