Oil shale is an important resource in 7 Days To Die if you wish to have more supply of gas can.
The main purpose is for it to be converted into fuel (gas can) and used to power up vehicles and tools.
Here’s how you can find and mine oil shale in 7 Days To Die.
How to find oil shale
Oil shale is native to the desert region of the game. If you’re in Navezgane (Alpha 19.3), it should be south of the wasteland area.
You need to look for the oil shale vein as shown in the image below. It’s more colorful compared to other mineral veins.
To mine it quickly, you can use a pickaxe or even better, an auger.
Just watch out for zombies and creatures when you’re mining with an auger as it creates a lot of sound and heat.
Once you have a lot of oil shale, you can start making gas cans with a chemistry station.
