Crucible is the final item you need for a forge in 7 Days To Die as of Alpha 19.
It unlocks the ability to craft forged steel and it’s one of the best items in the game.

How to find or craft a crucible
You should be able to buy a crucible from one of the traders but there’s no telling when it will be available.
It should also cost quite a bit, which is over 8,000 coins.
Another way is to craft a crucible via a schematic or the Advanced Engineering level 5 perk.
If you use the perk method, you will need less materials to craft a crucible and also to craft all forge items.
Once you have a crucible, you can start making forged steel using iron and clay.
Forged steel will unlock a lot more items for you.
