Prologue: Wandering is the first part of Diablo 4 where you’re introduced to the game mechanics and story.
There are a number of small chapters under this quest line and it’s mostly quite easy.
Here’s a walkthrough and guide on all the chapters under Prologue: Wandering in Diablo 4.
Dusk on the Mountain
The first part of the Campaign quest is Dusk on the Mountain. You just need to go to the marked area on the map shown below.
There will be Wargs all around the area but they’re the easiest of mobs.
Head all the way to the marked area and you’ll reach a cabin.
Enter the cabin and talk to Oswen.
Follow Vani to the tavern.
Darkness Within
Now, head to the Icehowl Ruins as shown in the map.
Go all the way until you reach the Tower Gate. Enter the ruins.
There will be waves of enemies inside.
Defeat them all and look for the decapitated priest inside.
You will then need to defeat X’Fal, The Scarred Baron. It’s your first mini boss in the game.
The attacks from above can be avoided. You’ll be taught how to dodge.
A Hero’s Return
To leave the ruins, just interact with the Icehowl Taiga exit.
Go back to the town area and talk to Vani.
During the cutscene, your character will be drugged and becomes unconscious.
After waking up, you have to team up with a priest Iosef.
Defeat all of the crazed villagers.
After you’re done, talk to Iosef again.
Pick up the Chapel Key from Vani’s corpse.
Prayers for Salvation
Then, head to the chapel door.
Inside the chapel, interact with the blood petals and a cutscene loads.
After the cutscene, talk to Iosef.
In Search of Answers
Your next objective is to look for the hermit’s cabin which is located northeast from the town.
On the way there, you’ll see an Altar of Lilith. Interact with it to get a permanent stat boost.
Go all the way to the hermit’s cabin.
Search the cabin. Interact with the bookshelf to unlock a hidden path.
Examine the Strange Skull and a cutscene loads.
Rite of Passage
Next, head further up north to accompany the hermit Lorath to Kyovashad.
There’ll be more enemies along the way.
Along the way, Lorath will stop and you have to talk to him.
Continue until Kyovashad and talk to Lorath where the guard is.
You will then need to “burn your sin”. You can inscribe fear / anger / pride / greed or nothing. Your character will then automatically throw it to the brazier beside it.
Talk to the guard again to proceed.
Missing Pieces
The next chapter requires you to meet Lorath somewhere in Kyovashad which is marked on the map.
He will be at the stables. Talk to him and he’ll ask you to fetch some stuff.
Go to the weapons merchant Ozren.
You will need to buy Lorath’s Polearm for 20 coins.
Also, pick up the Strange Amulet from the counter.
Return the items to Lorath.
