Masquerade of the Guilty is an Archon quest in Genshin Impact 4.2.
Your objective is to find out the truth behind Furina and the prophecy.
Here’s a walkthrough and guide of Masquerade of the Guilty in Genshin Impact.
This walkthrough is divided into many sub-quests.
Deluge of Wrathful Waters
The first quest is Deluge of Wrathful Waters. To begin, wait until the next day (8 am to 12 pm). You can fast forward time in the menu.
Then, head to the Fortress of Meropide and talk to the receptionist.
After feeling the earthquake, go to the Duke’s office.
After talking to the Duke, you’ll learn that it’s on the surface.
Go to Palais Mermonia to talk to Neuvillette.
After hearing about the earthquake in Poisson, head there to find Navia. You’ll discover that some of the people have dissolved in the Primordial Water that came out of nowhere.
After speaking to Navia, you’ll learn that her close companions (Melus and Silver) have both succumbed to the water.
Go to the nearby cemetery.
Meeting Is Also Parting
The next quest Meeting is also Parting begins.
Head to the ruins south of the cemetery as shown in the map. This location was given by The Knave herself.
Enter the ruins and you’ll face some enemies on the way.
Continue to explore inside.
You’ll reach a new area with a tower. While running to the tower, Navia falls.
Navia then sort of hallucinates that Silver and Melus was with her in some sort of weird trial in a different world.
After she wakes up, Neuvillette shows up as he saved Navia before she touches the Primordial Water.
Apparently Silver and Melus in their Oceanid forms also saved her.
Continue to head up to the top of the tower.
There will be enemies along the way up.
At the top, use the portal to go to the other side.
You’ll eventually reach a special room and there are stone slates at the wall. They basically represent the prophecy that will happen.
Leave the ruin after.
Hunters, Prophets
The next quest begins, i.e. Hunters, Prophets.
You will meet Mona as you arrive at the Spina di Rosula hideout.
After talking to Mona, leave for Neuvillette’s office.
All of them will start to plan on how to trap Furina.
Head back to the Spina di Rosula base.
You’ll notice a teacup with a voice by “Mage N”.
After that, Mona shows up and the Traveler explains what had happened here.
When you’re done, head to the newsstand.
Continue ahead.
Enter the shop and you’ll meet Sedene.
Then, go to The Steambird to find Charlotte.
After you’re done, you’ll be back at Spina di Rosula and Isadora tells about the incident.
Apocalypse
The next sub-quest begins, i.e. Apocalypse.
Go back to Poisson to find Furina.
The Traveler then manages to trap Furina in the “house” which is actually a set up by Lyney.
They emerge at the opera house.
The trial against Furina begins as planned by the whole group.
You’ll then need to select the evidence:
- The meeting with The Knave
- Childe’s conviction
- The truth behind the “serial disappearances of young women” case
After that, you’ll need to choose the answers for the prophecy slates.
After Furina gets declared guilty and sentenced to death by the Oratrice, the narwhal that the Traveler has seen before showed up in the opera house.
Childe came along with the narwhal as he continues to fight the beast. Neuvillette also defends the opera house from it.
The beast and Childe both disappears back into the portal.
You’ll also see a meeting between Focalors and Neuvillette as the former explains what had happened and that she’s the real archon.
The Opera of Noirceur and Blancheur
The next subquest is titled The Opera of Noirceur and Blancheur.
Here, you’ll be seeing Furina in her own dimension. Talk to her to begin.
You’ll need to turn off the spotlights.
After turning off each spotlight, you’ll have to defeat an elite.
Then, you’ll play as Furina for a bit and you’ll see her real story.
After learning about Furina’s story, you’ll hear Focalors’ side of it. She’s the real archon and Furina is like a human version of her.
She then sacrifices herself which has been planned over 500 years to pay off the “original sin” that her predecessor made. The power gathered by the Oratrice over the centuries were used to kill her. Neuvillette then takes over as the sovereign dragon of the land and gets back his true power.
With the new power, he declares that all of Fontaine’s citizens are now humans.
After Neuvillette becomes stronger, the Traveler will aid him in defeating the All-Devouring Narwhal.
You’ll need to attack the narwhal as it shows up.
At a certain point, destroy the orb that forms.
You’ll be teleported to another dimension to defeat the narwhal in another form.
After the battle, Skirk shows up and explains that the narwhal was her master’s pet and Childe is her disciple.
After the conversation, Fontaine gets flooded by water. Wriothesley with the help of his engineers brought a flying ship to rescue the people.
Furina then sees that everyone survived and that the prophecy is now gone. She’s no longer the archon and does her own thing elsewhere.
Finale
We now reach the Finale quest.
Go to Poisson to find Navia.
Then, go to the Fortress of Meropide with Charlotte to meet Wriothesley.
Next, head to Romaritime Harbor to say farewell to Lyney, Lynette and Freminet.
Finally, look for Neuvillette behind the opera house.
He’ll convey what Skirk had said earlier about the gnosis. It apparently belongs to the Third Descender but the Traveler is the fourth.
You can then ask Neuvillette further questions.
The quest ends here.
