You can also give food to animals in the area in return for some rewards.

How to gift food to animals
At the very start of the game, you should see squirrels hanging out in the Plaza area.
You just need to approach the squirrel and interact with it.
You can give it an apple or perhaps other types of food to it. Each animal should have a favorite food and you’ll earn extra Dreamlight from the achievement of giving a favorite food.
As for rabbits, you will need to follow it. The rabbit will wait for you and jump on the spot as you go towards it. Keep following the rabbit until it stops.
Once it stops, approach the rabbit. Feed it a carrot as it’s the favorite food.
In return, each animal should give you some item. It can be a quest item or some random item.
