In Disney Dreamlight Valley, one of your main goals of the game is to increase friendship with other villagers.
It may also be part of a quest objective and unlock friendship levels will give you more items.

How to raise friendship level in Dreamlight Valley
There is more than one way to increase your friendship points and subsequently levels in the game.
One of the easiest ways to do so is to gift items / food to your friend / villager.
When choosing the gift option, look at the bottom right of the screen to see the favorite things of the day.
Giving any or all of the three things listed will give much more friendship points than other things.
Apart from that, you can also raise friendship simply by chatting with them daily.
For each friendship level, you will unlock a reward which can be coins, furniture and so on.
Also, you can choose one of the roles for your companion. Using them as your companion will grant you bonuses depending on which role you chose.
