The Looker is a new free-to-play game on Steam and it has been a fun ride.
The game only takes one to two hours on the first playthrough and it’s a series of puzzles to solve.
Most of the game requires wits to play but once you get the hang of how it works, it gets more interesting.
Here’s a walkthrough, guide and tips on puzzles in The Looker.
Esc menu not working?
If you’re new to The Looker, you will notice that the ESC menu might not work the same way as other games.
You have to draw a red line between Start and End to choose to Continue or to Quit. Drawing lines will be a recurring theme in the whole game.
Grab the first aid kit and ammo
At the starting point, you’ll be in the middle of a tunnel. Head to the other end which is further away.
Walk through the first aid kit and ammo to get the achievements.
Once you’re done, head back to the other side of the tunnel. Draw red lines to open the doors.
Outdoor puzzles guide
Outside, you’ll see plenty of lit screens with a Start and End. Just connect the lines between them. Do the same for all screens.
Most of the puzzles are easy. You don’t actually need to follow the maze in some occasions.
You can just draw a line outside the black lines to connect from Start to End and it still works.
You will then come across a slightly tougher puzzle where the Start and End are blocked by black lines.
Look behind the screen and you’ll see a Start on the wire itself. Draw a red line from Start to End (other side of the wire).
The next puzzle is also simple. Just follow the maze and connect the line.
You will then find two more screens in a small room.
The first one is easy.
The second one doesn’t have an End and requires you to follow a voice. When you start to draw lines, you’ll hear a guy saying Beep and it gets louder as you get closer to the end.
You can follow the darkened red lines shown below for the exact spot (End).
Before leaving the area, look for two audio recording devices.
One is near a fire pit which is not lighted.
The second audio recording is on top of some books on a desk. They’re both in the outdoor area.
Do Not Come In! door
After completing the outdoor portion for now, you will find a door which says Do Not Come In!.
Just keep drawing lines over it and the door opens.
Once you’re inside, follow the path and you’ll see a knight on your left and a screen on your right.
Just keep drawing lines on the screen (which looks like blood) and you’ll then get a message “Look Behind”.
Once you look behind, the knight is gone and a new path opens.
You will also be equipped with a gun. You will then see a ghost passing by but it doesn’t seem to come back.
Continue following the path. You will see some book shelves and in between one of them, you’ll see a knight placed there with a red light to spook you. There’ll be an achievement “BOO!”.
Head to the door and you’ll see another screen. Shoot it and the door opens.
Tower side guide
Follow the path and you’ll reach the tower block. For the empty screen which says Start and End, just draw two loops (two balls) connecting them.
There’s an audio recording nearby.
Now, head upstairs to the top of the tower. Listen to the other audio recording too.
There’s also an achievement area if you look at the sun through the telescope. You just need to move your character until you can see through the telescope. Your entire screen will turn white.
The telescope will then be pointed down after you’re done with it.
Next, head down to the boat and you’ll find another audio recording.
You will then see two cannons pointing towards ships. Come back later to do this one.
At the opposite side, there’ll be another screen.
Connect Start to E and S to End without overlapping the lines.
You will then unlock the chess room.
You just need to connect the lines between S to E here.
For the second chess board, connect three lines between S and E without overlapping, as shown below.
There’s also an audio recording in the same room. This should be the last one.
Unlock the gate and do the maze puzzle
Head back down to the giant chess board outside.
The king piece is down. At the bottom, connect S to E.
Next, head to the cube which is powered by all the red lines. Connect S to E again.
Then, solve the Start to End maze to open the gate.
At the gate, join the lines again.
You will now reach the maze.
From the entrance, head to the right side and make your way to an area where you see some church pews (benches) with two statues surrounding them. The area is actually in the middle of the maze if you look from above.
Go to the altar area and you’ll find a book.
Here, you need to solve all the mazes. You can follow the lines shown in the images below.
The order in which you draw lines over the elemental symbols matters.
After you’re done with all the pages, you will get an achievement “Student”.
Head back to the tower where the cannons are. You have to destroy all the ships using the aiming device in the middle.
To aim, you just have to adjust your camera angle until it points directly at the particular ship. Connect S to E to fire the cannon.
Do the same thing for all the ships.
After all the ships are down, use the stairs and go down. The door is now unlocked.
SNEK game guide
You will see a SNEK arcade game.
Keep drawing lines over the words SNEK to start the game.
You basically need to connect S to E multiple times in the game, but if you’re unable to complete it you can restart. To restart, just draw lines on the RE-START word.
When drawing lines between S to E, try to draw in a way where you leave no gap between each round like in the image below.
After beating the game, go up to the tower wall again.
You’ll see that a door has been unlocked.
Time crisis game
In this newly unlocked room, you’ll see a game on the screen which resembles the arcade game Time Crisis.
Instead of shooting enemies, you have to draw lines between S and E on screens before they disappear.
After beating the game, go out and solve two more screens.
The projector light will point towards the solar panel on the other side of the tower.
Unlock the door and head to the next part.
How to solve the obelisk puzzle
You will then need to solve the puzzle with the purple screen and elemental symbols.
You can follow the lines drawn below. They have to be in the correct order for it to work.
Final puzzle guide
Head to the top of the tower for the final puzzle. Connect the giant S and E together. The lines cannot go over black spots.
Follow the line drawn below and it will resemble a giant dick which is clearly on purpose.
